Does my child need to know how to swim?
Yes. For safety reasons, all swimmers must demonstrate basic swimming ability by successfully completing a 25-yard swim assessment before joining the team.
The Aquadillos is a competitive summer swim team, not a swim lesson program, and we do not have enough coaches to provide one-on-one instruction for non-swimmers. If your child is unable to pass the assessment, we encourage you to consider private swim lessons through Angleton Pacesetters at www.angletonpacesetters.com.
Does my child need to know all of the strokes?
No. Swimmers are only required to have the ability and endurance to swim 25 yards.
Our coaches will teach and refine all four competitive strokes throughout the season, helping swimmers build confidence and prepare for swim meets.
How can I get information?
We use several communication platforms to keep our swim families informed throughout the season:
- SwimTopia – Meet sign-ups, volunteer assignments, swimmer entries, results, and important team updates.
- SportsYou – Team announcements and communication.
- Facebook – Angleton Aquatics
- Instagram – @angleton.aquatics
We encourage all families to regularly check SwimTopia and SportsYou to stay up to date on practice schedules, meet information, volunteer assignments, and team announcements.
If you have any questions, coach contact information can be found under the About tab.
What is a swim meet?
A swim meet is a fun and exciting competition where swimmers race against others in their age group. Meets give swimmers the opportunity to showcase the skills they've learned, track their progress throughout the season, and enjoy time with their teammates.
Is it mandatory to volunteer?
Yes. Each family is required to provide one adult volunteer at every swim meet.
Summer swim meets depend on parent volunteers to run successfully. There are a variety of volunteer positions available, and most jobs only require working a portion of the meet. Many volunteer roles also provide excellent opportunities to watch and support your swimmer.
